The geological conditions in the Wanbao and Baochang shield tunneling sections are complex, with the hard rock strength reaching up to 180 MPa. The area has abundant underground fissure water, long sections with soft overlying and hard underlying strata, and crosses a river. During shield construction, severe cutter wear is likely. To ensure the construction schedule, our company has arranged for after-sales technical personnel to provide on-site support, designing cutter configurations based on the actual strata to reduce the number of times the customer needs to open the chamber and change cutters, thereby improving the customer's construction progress.

Challenges

The rock strength reaches up to 180 MPa, and it crosses a river with abundant underground fissure water and long sections with soft overlying and hard underlying strata.
Under such complex geological conditions, the TBM is prone to surging and abnormal cutter damage during construction.
